Young Catholic Professionals - National May - July 2024
Background
Young Catholic Professionals is a nationwide nonprofit organization that helps young adults integrate their Catholic faith with their professional lives. During my time working with the national team, I supported its social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
The challenge was to serve a geographically dispersed audience while balancing spiritual formation, professional development, chapter growth, national events, and organizational announcements. The content needed to remain authentically Catholic while being accessible and relevant to modern young professionals.
Strategy & Solutions
Mission-Centered Content
I developed content rooted in YCP’s Catholic identity and its mission of “Working in Witness for Christ.” This included feast-day content, reflections from Catholic speakers, stories of the saints, professional formation, and practical encouragement for living the faith in the workplace.
These recurring themes gave the organization a consistent voice while creating content audiences were likely to save, share, and revisit.
National Event Storytelling
Major gatherings provided opportunities to show the size and energy of the national YCP community. I created and distributed content surrounding the YCP National Conference, Workers in the Vineyard Conference, and National Eucharistic Congress.
Speaker excerpts, attendee experiences, event recaps, Reels, and real-time Stories helped extend these experiences beyond those attending in person.
Platform-Specific Content
Rather than treating every channel identically, content was adapted to each platform and its audience. Instagram emphasized visual storytelling, spiritual formation, and community experiences. LinkedIn connected YCP’s Catholic mission with professional identity and leadership. Facebook supported the broader community through event updates, organizational news, and shareable faith-based content.
Performance-Led Publishing
I used performance data to identify the subjects and formats that generated meaningful action, including clicks, shares, saves, and interactions. The strategy prioritized relevant, mission-driven content over publishing simply for volume.
Results
From May through July 2024, YCP’s combined social audience grew to more than 37,000 followers, while total interactions increased nearly 90%. These results were achieved even as overall content output decreased by more than 42%, demonstrating that a more focused content strategy could generate stronger engagement without relying on constant publishing.
LinkedIn became an especially effective platform for the organization, producing substantial increases in interactions, clicks, engagement, and follower growth. Instagram also experienced strong audience growth and increased engagement with posts, while Facebook generated meaningful improvements in post interactions and clicks.
